I’ve been talking to a lot of local business owners recently. All these businesses are as different as night and day – but one thing most of them have in common is – they do not have a website. Most people see websites as a waist of time or just something “glamours” to have. But it is in fact much more important than that. If built and set up correctly – a website can open a lot of doors for your business. Here are some reasons why you need a website.
Search engines – especially Google like information. Websites contain information! Which will boost your appearance when people are searching for your type of niche. So, for example if someone searches for “PC Repair shops” or “Lawn services” the search engine will bring up relevant businesses. Right, we all know this. But what you might not know is that some of these search engines use your location for a more accurate result. So, if people are looking for a business like yours online – which most people are these days – you will have a much much better chance of being seen. The internet is 24/7 always – you have access to the entire world.
People And Relationships
The other day I was in this really interesting coffee shop. I was telling my friend about it and she wanted to check it out but she asked if they had a website – so we asked the owner. They don’t… So, how are you supposed to know what the business is even about, who they are, what they have, events, etc – if they don’t have a website? People often look something up online before they ever go to the location, buy from you or work with you. So, a website is always a good thing to have for PEOPLE. Not just for yourself.
Your website is like a virtual home base for your business. It should reflect who you are and represent you well. Also, remember that Google search I was talking about? Yea – these people will find you there too…
This also makes it A LOT easier for people to contact you. No matter where you happen to be.
Legit
This term is thrown around a lot. But having a website does make you more professional and legitimate. Especially if the website is built and set up properly with a design that is unique to you. People like being able to see who you are laid out in front of them.
If you have a good website – it shows you are committed and have a purpose. Websites are great first impressions (and lasting) provided they are built well and run smoothly.
Your competition has one
You’re most likely not the only business of your kind around. And I bet your competitors have a website. So, you should have one too. And if they don’t have a website then you are defiantly ahead of the game. Which is important for success.
Not just your neighbor Jim Bob across town – this means big gurus too. Like Starbucks, Dunkin Donuts, etc. They have websites – and if you’re a small business and this is your competition – you need a website.
Advertising Purposes
You can always promote your website. This form of advertising is usually inexpensive and easy to do. You can run things like Google ads and Bing ads to help get more exposure. And one of the best things about it is – you can change it up any way you want. It’s even better if you can get a professional web designer to help you out with this. Chances are – they know what people like to see in a website and how to boost your online presence.
You can announce updates, special offers, sales, new things going on and keep everyone engaged. People like for you to include them in things you are doing.
